  1. In early August, 2018, one of our managers said that G4S had some efficiency experts going around and visiting offices to see where they could cut the fat. We heard that layoffs were possible, but they were mostly going to be making our paper records into electronic records, etc…..that kind of stuff

Two weeks ago, the ax started to drop. Some of our Area Supervisors got the boot – offered positions as security officers. They were told that G4S was downsizing their positions. More responsibilities would be placed on the project managers, so no need for area supervisors. At some sites without a site supervisor, the area supervisors were told that they had a few days to choose a senior security officer and teach them how to do payroll!

I was the Training Manager and I was called in and told that I was not “meeting the expectations of the position” (that was news to me, and a complete lie). I was also offered a position as a security officer, which I turned down. I was given basically 3 days notice that I would have no job.

I feel bad for some of my friends left behind, but now its time to sit back and watch G4S crash and burn.

  2. I was laid off after 17 years. No notice of the lay off was given. G4S is planning on laying off almost a thousand overhead staff in the US in the next few weeks and this is just round one. They are restructuring and cutting the business model to the bone. Retention of good people is not on the books, loyalty is a joke and supervision is now non-existent.
